After
Hello, this is MOEM
Clinic.
Today, we would like
to share the case of a male patient
who underwent a hair transplant involving 4,000 hairs.
A 4,000-hair
transplant is a relatively extensive procedure
and may be considered by people with a broad forehead
or significant recession at the temples.
Our patient had
similar concerns.
In this article, we
will walk you through the procedure
and the changes seen over time.
We hope this real
case will be a useful reference
as you consider your own situation.
The patient’s main
concern was that his forehead looked broad
because his M-shaped hairline recession had progressed significantly.
With deep recession
at both temples, his face appeared longer.
He also felt that he
looked older when his forehead was exposed,
so he usually kept his hairline covered.
During the
consultation,
he said he wanted his hairline lowered as much as possible.
Taking his facial proportions into
account,
we designed a hairline that
would lower the center
while naturally filling in
both recessed temple areas.
We performed the 4,000-hair
transplant using the non-shaven Hidden Cut technique.
We carefully
considered the placement and angle of the transplanted hairs
so they would blend naturally with his existing hair.
When a large number
of hairs are transplanted,
patients may worry that the donor area at the back of the head will be
noticeable.
The Hidden Cut technique does not
require shaving the head.
Only the hair
selected for harvesting and the surrounding hair
are trimmed with scissors.
After surgery, the
donor area can be covered by the longer hair above it,
making it less noticeable.
The
patient told us that the donor area was barely noticeable
even the day after surgery.
Around three months
after his 4,000-hair transplant,
this patient was going through a temporary shedding phase
During this phase,
transplanted hairs may temporarily fall out
before new growth begins.
This is a natural
part of the recovery process.
The shedding phase
typically begins around two to three weeks after surgery
and is often most noticeable at around three months.
During this period,
many patients worry that their hair may not grow back.
However, temporary shedding can be
part of the normal recovery process.
As new hair gradually begins to
grow,
it is important to allow time for recovery and follow the doctor’s guidance.
At around three
months after surgery,
this patient was concerned because most of the transplanted hairs had shed.
He felt reassured
when new hairs gradually began to grow afterward.
In the photos taken one year after
surgery,
the hairline looks more natural.
Before surgery, his
broad forehead made his face appear longer.
One year later, his facial
proportions looked more balanced,
and his overall appearance seemed younger and brighter.
He told us that he
had previously felt limited in his hairstyle choices,
but can now style his hair more freely.
Most importantly, he
was much more satisfied with his appearance
and had regained his confidence.
We
hope this 4,000-hair transplant case has been a helpful reference for you.
